Charset problem

Hi guys... I am total noob in this so maybe I will ask some basic things but...

my native slovak language doesnt display correct on my website. When i translate the lan file i got wierd symbols on website like:

Po�li spr�vu should be correct like Pošli správu

can anyone pls tell me where and which charset has to be changed? what file or mysql?

In your language file e.g. e107_languages\Polish.php there should be a line at the top calling the proper language code:
setlocale(LC_ALL, 'pl');

If this does not solve the problem, convert the lan file from iso to utf8 charset e.g. with notepad2: File-Encoding-Utf8

but id ont understand what am i supposed to do? I use english language because Slovak language cant be installed

1) Use a proper code editor like notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/)
2) When editting, make sure the Encoding (see the top menu of notepad++) is set on UTF-8 (without BOM).
3) Save the file and re-upload it

4/ Slovak can be installed:
in languages/ create a Slovak folder
copy all files from English to Slovak,
filenames containing the string “English_xxx” should be renamed in “Slovak_xxx”
