Q. What's a XUP file?
It's a small XML file containing profile information about you that can be used to quickly and easily signup to any e107 powered website

Q. What else is it used for?
Updating the information in your XUP file will invisibly update your profile on any e107 powered website you visit.

Q. So what do I do with the code this page generates?
You must save it as an xml file - make sure you choose a file name that isn't too obvious, for instance do not call it XUP.xml or anything to do with user or profile. You must then upload it to your webspace.

Q. Is it secure?
It doesn't really need to be - no passwords are stored in the file, and the information contained is the information that'll be showed on your website profile anyway. You should however keep the address of your XUP file to yourself, or else a different user could sign up to a website using your profile.

Q. I don't have any webspace - can I still use XUP?
Not really. You could upload your XUP file to a friend's webspace, but this isn't recommended. You still have the option of signing up to e107 powered websites normally, using an XUP file is optional.

Q. How do I use it to sign up on a website?
Instead of entering all your information, website, email address etc, simply type in the address to your XUP file, and choose a login name and password. Your profile entries will be filled with the values held in your XUP file.

Q. And what happens when I login to a website I've signed up to using my XUP file?
Your XUP file will be checked to see if you've made any changes to your entries, if you have, the new values will be saved in the website's database.

Q. How do I change/update the information in my XUP file?
The easiest way is to open the file in a normal text editor and edit it manually. Alternatively you can come back to this page and update it here by entering the address to your XUP file in the textbox.
