Can someone please help me, a little backround, i know my fair shair of computers, and am a fast learner but still a little new to PHP, MYSQL. Anyway, I downloaded the current version of e107, unzipped it and sent it to my public_html folder on my webserver. When trying to set permissions to the files in the documentation, I couldn't find any of them??? What am I doing wrong, the documentation on this webstie was telling me to set permissions 777 to certain files, and two news files that I couldn't find. A ton and ton of e107 files are on my webserver, but I can't find em. Are there any other full guides for newbies out there??? Thanks to anyone who helps me!

Rights on the folders on the webserver could be set by your ftp client. CHMOD. You could use your website without changing the security. You have to change it when you want to give users the permissions to upload there own avatar. You have to give 777 rights on the \e107_files\avatars folder.

Hopefull give this more information to start with e107.
it is very greate.

I have the exact problem as masterjedi. This is straight from the tutorial, "In your FTP client, browse the e107_files/backend/ folder, you should see two files called news.xml and news.txt " The only problem is those two files where not in the folder that is stated, they are nowhere in any of the folders. Please help. I have been reading up on the CMS and it looks great.

Its something that was missed in the docs - the backend folder no longer exists.

No problem - it's something which will hopefully be sorted soon as we know it's confusing which is why we have created this dedicated install / upgrade forum
