I know the Dev team have there reasons for moving to utf8 however for any site that uses javascript links to media content providers there are issues with the script parsing and characters like £ and ' not being recognised.

I know that this will not affect the majority of e107 users but it will impact on some.

v617 doesn't cause any issues for me but the upgrade to v7 does.

The question is: Does anyone know a way to convert the script calls to display in a different charset other than the default in content and custom pages?

Ideally to have a switch in admin to choose the default charset would be the ideal then v7 would be able to meet everyones needs as a universal CMS however I am a realist and know this is unlikely to happen

So can someone provide a list which files need editing in v7 so a user can have the option of changing the whole site to say iso-8859 if it proves neccessary?

OK found a fix for it!

If you add:

charset='ISO-8859-1'

into the script call i.e.

    <script type='text/javaScript' src='http://whatever' charset='ISO-8859-1'></script>

It will overide the default utf-8 encoding and display the characters correctly in IE and Firefox

Low priority for me but I finally got around to use the above tip at my v0.7 personal site. Yes, 2dopey, your tip does work. Thanks.
