how do i take navigation menu off the top of the site and use menu on the left
im using the Nothing Special Theme

Activating "Tree" in a menu area is enough in some themes.

If not, then activate tree and remove the nav code from your theme.php

adding : or use both were in sitelinks (again most themes accept) use ALT-1 for important links on top and ALT-2 for those in tree menu.
This theme is capable using both sametime
