Hi all - I'm trying to get the Newsfeeds to work and no matter what URL I try to use I always get
Unable to open remote XML file.Unable to open remote XML file.
Newsfeeds
Unable to unserialize rss data - uses non-standard syntax

2 examples are MSNBC and CNN
[-link-]
[-link-]

Am I missing something here? Thank you

Ok, maybe a better question - does any one have a site that their newfeeds show properly? That way I can know if it's the half dozen or so sites I've tried or if it's the server's config.

.xml style rss do not work in the newsfeeds for some reason, find extentions with .rss

The MSNBC feed works fine for me - using the latest CVS (which has some mods to the newsfeeds).
The CNN feed isn't showing because its moved to [-link-]

I'm having trouble getting the newsfeeds to work on my site as well. I have an older installation of e107 that is working fine [http://www.forgingindustries.net/forums/e107_plugins/newsfeed/newsfeed.php] - but the newest release I downloaded yesterday gives me the following error when I use the exact same feeds:

Error: 7, Failed to connect to 66.226.64.3: Permission denied
Newsfeeds
Unable to unserialize rss data - uses non-standard syntax

Any suggestions? I tried to uninstall the entire newsfeeds plugin from the new installation and uploaded the files to the server from the one I have that is currently working and still got the same error. I'm thinking the problem must be in one of the files that the newsfeeds plugin points to elsewhere on the server.

The site that I am having the trouble on is [-link-] - I have made the Newsfeeds page viewable only to Admins until I get it working.
